Wirichada Pan-ngum
Associate Professor
About:

Wirichada (Pan) is an infectious disease modeller based at the Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) and the Department of Tropical Hygiene, Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University. Her research focuses on population dynamics and disease transmission, addressing questions related to interventions and policy implementation. Her infectious disease interests span neglected tropical diseases, hepatitis, and vaccine-preventable diseases. Research questions related to health policy and decision-making are her top priority.

Pan is passionate about integrating multiple disciplines—including epidemiological surveys, social science, and statistical analyses—into her modelling work, creating a more comprehensive understanding of complex health challenges.

As head of the Mathematical and Economic Modelling (MAEMOD) team at MORU, Pan is dedicated to local and regional capacity building and networking in the modelling community. Training and nurturing the next generation of modellers remains close to her heart.
