Growing evidence suggests that COVID-19 patients experience a wide range of post-acute complications. Here, I will outline methods to estimate the post-acute risk and burden of new incident autoimmune, cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, thrombotic respiratory and neuropsychiatric complications after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Results of post-acute risks and excess burdens over multiple health domains are described over periods of Delta and Omicron predominance. The impact of vaccination and severity status of acute-phase infection on subsequent post-acute complications will also be discussed. These results will also be contrasted against the post-acute risks of dengue infection.

Following on from the successful MIDSEA Summer School 2024 in Quy Nhon, Viet Nam, this year we are moving to the ancient city of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. The MIDSEA Summer School 2025 will run from 23 to 29 June, in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada, one of Indonesia’s and the region’s leading universities.

Modellers from De La Salle Manila, Mahasarakham University, the Mahidol Oxford Research Unit, the National University of Singapore, Oxford University Clinical Research Unit and the University of the Philippines are jointly organising a Summer School scheduled to take place from 19 to 29 June 2024 in Vietnam.
