MIDSEA Summer School 2025

Following on from the successful MIDSEA Summer School 2024 in Quy Nhon, Viet Nam, this year we are moving to the ancient city of Yogyakarta in Indonesia. The MIDSEA Summer School 2025 will run from 23 to 29 June, in partnership with Universitas Gadjah Mada, one of Indonesia’s and the region’s leading universities. The venue will be The Alana Hotel, Yogyakarta, which will also serve as the accommodation for participants

The main features of the Summer School will be:

  • Parallel Tracks to cover basic and advanced topics in infectious disease modelling
  • Opportunities to network with other modellers of different experience levels from across Southeast Asia and beyond

Registration Fees

The fees for MIDSEA Summer School 2025 depend on the country you are in and the accommodation you request.

LMIC HIC
Fees only, No accommodation USD 600 USD 1000
Fees + shared/twin room USD 850 USD 1250
Fees + single room USD 1200 USD 1600

Note we use the World Bank categorisations (available here) to define LMIC and HIC. In ASEAN, Brunei Darussalam and Singapore are classified as HIC and other countries as LMIC. Outside ASEAN, please refer to the World Bank definitions. For staff and students at Universitas Gadjah Madah (UGM), fees will be handled separately by UGM.

Application for Scholarship

Participants may apply for a full scholarship to cover both the (1) registration fees and the (2) accommodation fees.

The scholarship does not cover travel to or from Yogyakarta.

To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be long-term residents of LMICs
  • Be able to fund their own travel
  • Be able to commit to staying the duration of the summer school
  • Stay in a twin room

Not all applicants will receive a scholarship.

Conveyance of Success Applications

  • Successful applicants will be informed via email by 14 Apr 2025
  • Acceptance letter of scholarships will be expected to be signed and returned to organizers within a week
  • If an applicant accepts the scholarship and then withdraws without good reason, we may require the repayment any expense to the organizers
